Called to excellency
"And I have filled him (Bezalel) with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all
manner of workmanship, To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,..." Exodus 31.1-5
God called Bezalel to perform a
most important work for Him. He must have been the right man for the job and was gifted with his hands to make fine crafts with gold, silver, and bronze. However, scripture tells us that
God chose him and filled him with God's Spirit to enable him.
Does God call men and women into their
vocations to fulfill His purposes? Is there room to fulfill that which God needs to be
accomplished throughout the world? Our interest in our vocation is not
born of our own making.
So many of us, pastors included, have made the
mistake of encouraging others who have a deep desire to walk with Christ to pursue vocational ministry. Removing us from the marketplace where the greatest harvest is yet to occur would be to remove us from where God called us. The Lord must be served in the marketplace where He has gifted us and called us to minister.
