Peace, peace; Oh peace unto the world
In a song by a local musician, a young lady backing vocalist sings: "peace, peace, oh peace unto the whole world."
To this, the lead vocalist sings: "What peace? What justice? How can we be expected to discuss peace when there is no peace?" It sounds ironical, does it not?
Well the world has its way of giving peace. Warlords in warring factions will go to the roundtable to discuss peace and leave their "boys" in the bundu still firing the guns. A husband will smack his wife right in the face and break down in tears claiming he does not know what came over him.
Jesus in John 14.27 says:
"Peace I live with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
This is a profound statement coming from the Prince of Peace, the only man known to give true peace. So as we pray for peace in the world and as we desire to become agents of peace, lets remember the true example set by our Lord.
