Row row row your boat
Do you remember the old nursery school song which goes:
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
Going through life at times I think should be just another journey down the stream. Like a stream, life has its ups and downs, its meanders, its rapids and waterfalls and islands in the streams.
As it turns out, only those who manage to hold their heads above the waters can enjoy the boat ride. Psalm 16.11 says; "Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy: at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." KJV
The whole art of negotiating through life is about a personal reliance on a Saviour who knows the path because "He is the Way," Christ who tells you on good authority obstacles to look out for, because "He is the Truth," Him who overcame, the fullness of life is in Him, because "He is the Life."
So gently down the stream, merrily, merrily, we can row our boats and say, "life is but a dream."
