Shopping Orgy Continues

Zimbabweans from all walks of life continue with their shopping orgy as the government intensifies its crackdown on overpricing businesses.

At one of the large shopping warehouses just outside the city, I watched as executives, vendors, mothers and even students with extra pocket money rushed into the warehouse to grabĀ  what they could.

As I joined the rush almost knocking down a security guard manning the main entrance, I thought of 2 Kings 7.1-2

"Elisha said, "Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria. The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, "Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?"

"You will see it with your own eyes," answered Elisha, "but you will not eat any of it!"

Indeed, one has to see it for one to believe it!

The ongoings in Zimbabwe

The ongoings in Zimbabwe have also helped me visualize the siege of Samaria chronicled in Kings. As some watch in horror, others in excitement, we need to note that people are affected in various degrees, not everyone is benefiting from this crackdown. We need God's peace to prevail and that no further sorrow may be added. To someone its a livelihood taken yet to others its an extension of their livelihood.
